Cemetery Team Member

North Road Cemetery

POSITION TITLE: Cemetery Team Member Casual

REPORTS TO: Cemetery Leading Hand

BASIS: Casual $33.65/hour

LOCATION: Nailsworth South Australia

SUMMARY: This position provides support for the cemetery operations team. The terms and conditions of employment are governed by The Cemetery Industry Award 2020

 

CRITICAL RELATIONSHIPS: Works with the cemetery operations team reporting to the Cemetery Leading Hand who in turn reports to the Cemetery Manager.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preparation of sites for burials, Ashes/Vaults/Earth

Assisting Funeral Directors

Backfilling graves and sealing vaults after burials

Backfilling sunken plots

Regularly testing headstones reporting safety concerns

Concreting graves as required

Maintaining pathways and roadways

Weeding

Watering

Rose bush pruning

Tree pruning

Hedge clipping

Spraying weeds

Lawn mowing

Whipper snipping lawn sites and paths

Rubbish removal

 

QUALIFICATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE:

Able to work effectively on multiple tasks and able to meet deadlines.

Ability to perform a wide variety of manual labour tasks outdoors and in all weather conditions

Must be adaptable and flexible taking great pride in your work

Demonstrate a keen interest in gardening/landscaping

Current First Aid qualifications or willingness to undergo relevant training

Must hold a current driver’s licence

 

PERSONAL QUALITIES:

Excellent verbal communication skills

Ability to discern and respond to challenging situations

Attention to detail with good problem-solving skills

Be physically and mentally capable and report to work in a fit state to perform all duties.

A formal medical examination will be required.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

The incumbent is required to:

  • Have an appreciation of ethos of the Anglican Church and a willingness to work within the values and culture of the organisation
  • Conform to the Diocese’s conditions of employment, Code of Conduct, Standards of Practice and Behaviour, Confidentiality and No Harassment policies and other Human Resources and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Undergo a satisfactory National Police check and background checks
  • Adhere to legislative requirements applicable to the role, including and not limited to the SA Work Health and Safety Act 2012.
  • Perform all allocated duties within classification and work at other Diocesan sites if required.
