Green palm cross fundraiser for ABM’s 175th anniversary

The Anglican Board of Mission will celebrate 175yrs of mission on 29 October 2025. The South Australian Provincial ABM Committee is coordinating the making of Palm Crosses again this year as a fundraiser for ABM in its 175th Anniversary Year.

“We are inviting parishes to purchase their palm crosses from ABM and encourage their parishioners to help make the palm crosses at one of the planned workshops – many hands make light work,” the Rev’d Paul Devenport, Chair ABM Provincial Committee in South Australia said.

You can order your palm crosses, at $7/10 crosses, using this online order form.

The proceeds from the sale of palms will go to support the diverse work of ABM in its 175th year.

In addition to ordering your palm crosses from ABM, parishioners from across the Diocese are encouraged to participate in God’s mission by helping to make the crosses. Previous working bees have been a wonderful experience, spending time with fellow Anglicans over a joint task– and knowing how to make a palm cross is a great life skill!

There will be 3 (and possibly 4) palm cross making working bees which ABM supporters are invited to join to help make the palm crosses:

·        Sat 8 Mar – All Soul’s St Peters, 9am-11am

·        Fri 28 Mar– Holy Innocents Belair, 1-3pm

·        Date TBC – St Chad’s Fullarton, 10am-12 noon

·        Sat 5 April – St Columba’s Hawthorn, 10am-12 noon.

Palms will be provided and someone can teach you to make one if you don’t know how to.

If you are a palm cross maker willing to make some palm crosses but can’t attend a working bee, please contact ABM’s Meagan Schwarz on 08 7078 3560.

If your parish would like to host an additional working bee, please also let Meagan Schwarz know via email to [email protected].
